Clinical anxiety is more than being worried; it can consume your thoughts in an unending cycle of fear. It can present as a panic attack, obsessive thoughts, compulsive actions, or convince you not to leave the house. Ignoring chronic anxiety can and does lead to increased depression and social isolation. Please don't suffer in silence when you can learn strategies for coping in your first session. Research-based cognitive behavioral interventions and mindfulness strategies can help reduce anxiety, promote a sense of calm, and help you feel in control again.
Depression has many different faces and isn't always what you may expect. It can be a short-temper and a sharp-tongued response to someone you love. It could be a loss of motivation and energy to do the most basic tasks like taking a shower or doing the things you used to enjoy. Crying spells, isolation, and sadness may weigh you down and lead to hopelessness. Please don't accept any of these as "normal" because this isn't the best life can be. I use industry approved assessments to identify your baseline and track your progress.
Unfortunately trauma can happen at any age; it does not discriminate. Childhood abuse includes, but is not limited to physical and emotional neglect, verbal abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse. Perhaps your trauma was later in life, such as a divorce or loss of a loved one. If your experience(s) continue to negatively impact your present, then perhaps it is time to get to the root cause(s). I have had post-graduate trainings in all types of trauma, P.T.S.D., the challenges of military life, and human trafficking. As an an E.M.D.R. trained therapist, I can help reduce the emotional sting of your traumatic memories.
Most American have been touched by some type of addiction in their lives. Addiction is not only a dependence on a substance like alcohol or marijuana, but it can also include things such as sex, pornography, gambling, shopping, and eating. According to SAMHSA’s 2022 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, approximately 21.5 million adults in the United States have a co-occurring disorder. This means they have one or more mood disorders and a substance use disorder at the same time. It can get extremely complicated to untangle. Please know, you will be treated with dignity and compassion as we develop a customized treatment plan for you.
